5.0 out of 5 stars Great color and picture...., February 12, 2009
By

This review is from: LG 47LG50 47-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV (Electronics)
Pros - The TV has great color and picture quality. It's worth it for the price listed. No Motion blur with Verizon FIOS cable.

Cons - The TV gets a slight distortion on certain camera angles when watching high action sports such as football. This is very unnoticeable to most of my friends but I'm a very picky person and can tell on certain camera angles or plays when watching sports the TV tends to get static.
The speaker system has a Tru SRS surround feature which is useless along with a clear voice option. The speaker/surround feature could be better. I just use the default sound options for no added surround features from the TV.

A few things to take in to consideration.

1 - Make sure your TV room as adequate space. If you don't have at least 10-12 feet between you and your HDTV of this size you might get nausea. The TV can be overwhelming since its 47 inches big and looks totally different in your living room compared to in store... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Full HD Bang for your Buck!, June 6, 2008
This review is from: LG 47LG50 47-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV (Electronics)
I've had great experience with LG products - so my purchase of a 47" Full HD set from LG seemed logical.

The picture on my 47LG50 is terrific! Setup out of the box was very intuitive, although I would recommend that the set's picture be set to "standard" instead of "vivid" (torch mode is set by default).

Even when powered off, this set is beautiful. Its piano black case frames the 47" screen very well, although it is more susceptible to fingerprints.

The set offers three HDMI 1.3 inputs and more connection options than one would normally need.

I couldn't give this set a stronger recommendation!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best TV of anyone I know, November 4, 2011
This review is from: LG Infinia 42LV5400 42-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED-LCD HDTV with Smart TV (Electronics)
I was initially skeptical about purchasing this TV from Sam's Club because they were only selling 9 of them - and not removing any from the boxes to display. In other words, I bought this TV on blind faith and the strong recommendation from the store associate. And I'm extremely glad I took his advice.

The picture on this TV is brilliant in High Def. It's very bright, crystal clear, and truly beautiful. It literally has the best picture of any TV I shopped for, including the Sony's and Samsung's. My grandfather watched the NCAA basketball tournament with me last year and during every commercial he would remark, "LG: Life's Good" because we were enjoying ourselves so much watching the games on the TV (with a Bose 321 home theater system attached). Even several months later, I still love watching HD football and NASCAR races on it. It just doesn't get any better with the superb LED-LCD picture quality.

Lately I have been getting a lot of use out of the USB... Read more

This review is from: LG Infinia 42LV5400 42-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED-LCD HDTV with Smart TV (Electronics)
I couldn't be more satisfied with the features of this TV alongside with its price tag. First off, I am truly surprised how few reviews there are on this model in comparison to the LG42LV5500. I did my homework before buying a new set, and both of these models are exactly the same. The only difference is the lv5500 has a magic remote. But this tv comes with the magic remote "feature", meaning you can always buy the remote in the future at around $70.

I consider this LG unbeatable with all that it offers. The picture is flawless, brilliant in colors, contrast and detail. I feel no motion lag as with some 60hz models. And am truly grateful to have the 120hz. It has a decent amount of user manual settings including colors and pic modes, but not overwhelming and simple enough for the ordinary ind.. The Trumotion feature is not to my liking, as it makes the picture look like some soap opera, taking away from that "cinema feel". So that is up to ones personal liking, but I... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Local Dimming is VERY distracting - Too bad, November 13, 2011
By

This review is from: LG Infinia 42LV5400 42-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED-LCD HDTV with Smart TV (Electronics)
I hate to be the first person to give this TV a less than perfect score, but the local dimming effect on a mostly black screen is dramatically distracting; I'm surprised that it hasn't been mentioned in other reviews. (It has been on the LV5500 as "backlight bleed") FWIW, this unit has an IPS panel.

When white text is shown against a black screen, the backlighting goes wild in a horizontal band across the screen. I also have the magic motion remote and the cursor causes the same effect: as the cursor moves, there is a bright halo that surrounds it everywhere is goes. It's distracting to the point that I'm considering returning this unit. And that's too bad because the picture quality is really outstanding otherwise. The colors are natural and lifelike.

I was aware of the potential drawbacks of local dimming, but I didn't expect it to be so noticeable.

Also, the web browser has frozen twice in less than a week. The only fix is to shut off the TV... Read more

April 2011
Sharp's LE830 series reinforces its leadership in the HDTV field, complete with Sharp's proprietary Quattron quad-pixel technology, which adds a fourth color--yellow--to the traditional RGB pixel format, for richer color and brilliant picture detail. An LED backlit X-Gen LCD panel enables a dynamic contrast ratio of 6,000,000:1 for seriously deep blacks. Sharp's 120Hz Fine Motion Enhanced motion processing virtually eliminates blur and motion artifacts in fast-moving video. The LC-52LE830U also boasts connected TV services, including Vudu apps, Netflix streaming video, CinemaNow, Blockbuster On Demand, Alphaline Entertainment, and Napster. Plus, with built-in Wi-Fi, connectivity is easier than ever. This also makes for an easy connection to AQUOS Advantage Live, the industry's leading online support system, to help ensure you get the most out of your new television.

Quattron Quad Pixel Technology

Quattron LED LCD TVs feature advanced technologies enabling picture quality that has been difficult or impossible to reproduce using conventional LCD displays. When combined with Sharp's 1080p X-Gen LCD panel, the displays offer dramatic reduction in energy consumption compared with conventional CCFL LCD TVs. These technologies work in tandem to optimize picture quality and contrast ratios while reducing energy use.

Quattron LED LCD TVs employ a four-color filter, adding the color Y (yellow) to the three colors of R (red), G (green) and B (blue). Quad Pixel technology produces this groundbreaking combination expanding the color gamut and faithfully rendering nearly all colors that can be discerned while introducing never-before-seen colors to LCD TVs, like sparkling golds, Caribbean blues and sunflower yellows.

Sharp's X-Gen panel provides a wider aperture, allowing more light to pass through, which requires fewer backlighting elements to create an extremely bright image. Also, because the redesigned LCD panel has fewer ribs than traditional panels, the pixels seal more completely, enabling nearly all light to be blocked and resulting in deeper blacks.

120Hz Fine Motion Enhanced

Sharp uses a unique algorithm to create images that help smooth sharp edges on moving objects, like a running play in football, a player swinging a bat, or a car chase. By creating new images and filling in the gaps, motion appears smoother and less jumpy. The result is a smoother picture with more detail.

X-Gen Panel

Sharp's X-Gen panel provides a wider aperture allowing more light to pass through, which requires fewer backlighting elements to create an extremely bright image. Also, because the re-designed LCD panel has less ribs than traditional panels, the pixels are better sealed which enables nearly all light to be blocked resulting in darker images.

Mega Contrast

With a full LED backlight, luminance can be controlled with greater precision than with a CCFL backlight because of the differences in intensity control properties. Compared with the modulation rate of a typical CCFL backlight, the ultra-bright LED backlight is capable of modulating down to an incredible rate. Through the combined operation of Sharp's X-Gen panel, which has a high contrast ratio and Sharp's ultra-brilliant LED backlight system, AQUOS LE830 Series LCD TVs achieve an ultra-high contrast ratio that delivers unprecedented degrees of black and images that project incredible depth.

VyperDrive

VyperDrive game mode helps to eliminate the lag time between the game console and TV. When Game Mode is activated, the signal is streamlined, resulting in transmission that is five times faster than normal mode. The result is a game experience you'll never forget.

Environmental Advantages

Sharp designed AQUOS LCD TVs to require fewer resources to manufacture and less energy to consume. Sharp LCD TVs are ENERGY STAR qualified and feature low energy consumption and extended operation life. Sharp is committed to setting new standards for energy efficiency and environmental friendliness by minimizing waste and greenhouse gases in all Sharp factories. 5.0 out of 5 stars A beautifully engineered product, June 23, 2011

This review is from: Sharp LC52LE830U Quattron 52-inch 1080p 120 Hz LED-LCD HDTV, Black (Electronics)
Noticed the Sharp 52" LCD - LED TV walking thru Sears - an amazing 2D picture that seems a little 3D. No interest in having to wear 3D glasses to watch TV. I am of the older generation and a sports fan.

Replaced a 4 year old 50" Sony LCD projection TV in Great Room. Have tried a Samsung 46" TV, great picture, poor video controls for non 1080p, ended up with a Sony 46" LCD TV in bedroom.

Installed the Sharp 52" Aquos TV 4 days ago. What a wonderful experience. TV is everything I expected and more.

Here are the highlights:

1. Great 1080p picture with more colors than experienced with other TVs due to Quad Pixel technology Green Red Blue and Yellow. Watched US Open golf and amazed at the bright colored shirts of the fans in the stands.

2. Smart Menu system with ability to adjust just about anything. Have used it to setup TV and Wireless Internet connection with a little help from Sharps customer support... Read more

This review is from: Sharp LC52LE830U Quattron 52-inch 1080p 120 Hz LED-LCD HDTV, Black (Electronics)
Like most people, I did a ton of research before dropping serious cash on an led hdtv. I researched and looked at Sony, LG, Samsung, Toshiba, and a few others. Professional reviewers rave about Samsung and LG, although I can't really figure out why. The Samsungs all have a glass screen, which does make the image look sharper and improve contrast, but reflects everything in a bright room, so not very practical. The LG's? Well, to be honest, I only gave LG a cursory look because I've not had much success with that brand in other products I've owned. Sony gets good reviews too, but Sony does not make their own panels. Sony uses Samsung and Sharp panels, so why not buy a Samsung or Sharp instead? Not to mention Sony's are incredibly expensive. My sister has a Toshiba, but to me it's like LG as I've not been pleased with the brand in other products of theirs I've owned. So essentially it came down to Samsung or Sharp because they're both innovators in the LCD television industry and... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Sharp 52" LED HD TV, August 23, 2011

This review is from: Sharp LC52LE830U Quattron 52-inch 1080p 120 Hz LED-LCD HDTV, Black (Electronics)
This is a great TV for the price which could not be matched at any local stores here in south Texas. I was looking for a good size tv without 3D, I just would not be happy with having to watch my tv with a pair of glasses, I digress. The ability to sync up with my wireless router was very simple which I'm always using it for Pandora. The DLNA was a bonus as I originally was under the impression that this type did not have. Although I have not used it yet, I think its a cool function to have. The 120 Hz is a noticeable difference between a 60 Hz 42" that I replaced. From what I read, the 240 Hz was overkill which did not provide double the experience as 60 to 120 offers. Anyways, if you are looking for a good quality tv with nice features, menu options, many connection ports and an awesome gaming monitor (PS3 for me) then this is an excellent buy.
